CBI action against Shivkumar is a step of political retaliation: Surjewala
new Delhi; The Congress on Monday termed the search of several premises by the CBI in the corruption case allegedly related to its Karnataka unit president DK Shivakumar as a step of political retaliation taken before the by-election in the state. At the same time, the party said that the investigating agency should investigate the ‘corruption’ against Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and his family.
Party general secretary and in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Surjewala said that despite the BJP government taking action against this vengeance, Congress leaders and workers are not going to bow down. Congress spokesperson Sushmita Dev demanded Yeddyurappa’s resignation and questioned why Yeddyurappa and his family’s corruption was not being investigated. Surjewala tweeted, “Raid at Shivkumar of Chudi is going on a game of intimidation on behalf of Modi-Yeddyurappa duo.” We are not going to bow down. The CBI should also disclose the corruption of the Yeddyurappa government. He said, Modi government, Yeddyurappa government and BJP’s advance organization CBI-ED-Income Tax know that Congress workers and leaders are not going to succumb to such efforts. Our determination to fight for the people will be stronger.
Sushmita told reporters, BJP is repeatedly misusing the investigating agency to target opposition leaders. Our question is why the CBI raids before the elections? Why does the CBI wake up before the election? He said that the entire Congress party is standing with DK Shivakumar, the Congress spokesperson said, “Our demand is that BS Yeddyurappa should resign from the post of Chief Minister”. There should be an inquiry into corruption against him and family. ”The CBI has searched several premises in a corruption case allegedly related to Shivkumar and has recovered Rs 50 lakh so far. Officials gave this information on Monday. CBI is conducting searches at 14 locations in Karnataka, Delhi and Maharashtra in connection with raising disproportionate assets.
